Somebody hung every picture in this house.

Dimora is Italian for a dwelling — a place someone lives in rather than passes through. That is roughly the idea. The corridors are hung salon-style with black-and-white photographs, the lamps are woven rattan and throw the kind of light you get in a house at eight in the evening, and one wall upstairs simply says FRIENDS above a cluster of frames.

It is not a hostel and it is not a hotel. Ten rooms is small enough that you can still say good morning to everyone individually. Every guest is 18 or over, which is the reason it stays quiet. The kitchen is shared, the terrace is the best place in the building at six in the evening, and the parking is free because everyone drives up here anyway.

Come for two nights to fly at Billing, or come for a month with a laptop. Both happen here constantly.

Everything worth walking to is a short walk from the door.

The paragliders take off at Billing, 2,430 metres up, and land here — in the field a few minutes from the front door. The Tibetan Colony, Deer Park Institute and the cafés everyone tells you about are on the same side of the village. You will not need a taxi to have dinner.

Before you book

Where exactly is Dimora Homes in Bir?
On Drongtoe Road, on the side of Bir where the paragliders land and where the Tibetan Colony, the monasteries and most of the cafés are. Everything worth walking to is walkable from here — you will not need a taxi to have dinner.
How do I book a room?
Message us on WhatsApp or call the number at the top of this page with your dates, and we'll confirm the same day. You can also book through our Booking.com listing if you'd rather pay through a platform — but messaging us directly is usually quicker, and we can be more flexible on rates and check-in times.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 2:00 pm, check-out by 10:00 am. If you're arriving on the overnight bus from Delhi, tell us — early check-in can usually be arranged, and there's a terrace to wait on either way.
How do I get to Bir from Delhi?
The overnight bus is the usual way: around 11–12 hours, leaving Delhi in the evening and reaching Bir in the morning. By air, fly to Kangra (Gaggal) airport, 65 km away, and take a taxi from there — we can arrange the pickup. By train, the nearest broad-gauge station is Pathankot, 112 km away.
Can you arrange paragliding?
Yes. Tell us the day you want to fly and we'll book you with a licensed pilot and sort the ride up to Billing. Flights depend on the weather, so keep a spare day if you can — the season runs strongest from October to mid-December, and again from March to May.
Is there a desk and good WiFi? Can I work from here?
Every room has a proper writing desk and a chair you can sit in for a full day, and the WiFi reaches all of the house. A lot of our guests are here for a few weeks, working in the mornings and flying in the afternoons.
Is parking available?
Yes, free, on site, in front of the house. The road up to the house is fine for a regular car.
Can I bring my dog?
Ask us. Pets are allowed on request rather than by default, so message us on WhatsApp before you book with the dates and the dog, and we'll tell you straight away. A charge may apply.
Is Dimora Homes adults only?
Yes. Every guest needs to be 18 or over. It keeps the house quiet, which is most of the point of it — but it does mean we are not the right place for a family holiday, and we would rather you knew that now than at check-in.
When is the best time to visit Bir?
March to May for green hills and long days, and late September to November for the clearest views. October to mid-December is the best flying weather. The monsoon, roughly July to early September, is beautiful and quiet but flights are unreliable.
